Other things we have found about camping or caravanning in the UK...
"Things we have learned"
- Campgrounds can be few and far between, except in busy tourist areas, like Cornwall, Lakes District etc when they are everywhere.
- Once you have found one...It may be in the most unfriendly, windswept place
- The laundry will be shut by about 5pm, so make sure you arrive at a good time in the afternoon, to give time to do a wash before shut by the laundry gestapo
- Reception may shut at 4pm!
- The showers will not be a happy experience. Often a push button affair, where you have to lean on the button the whole time to produce water, god help you when you want to scrub in your shampoo. Someone has invented awful gas dribblers. These ones dribble water through and are cold, then luke warm, then scalding, then luke warm then cold, then luke warm, then scalding, then luke warm then cold, etc in a neverending cycle. It is impossible to have a nice warm shower, you are constantly leaping out as the water changes temperature.
- There is never a kitchen, or dining room, or TV room, or games/reading rooms. The only things provided are electric hook up, showers/toilets, laundry (subject to the rules above), and a pot wash.
